7 Great Ways to Spoil Your Cat

7 Great Ways to Spoil Your Cat

Cats have been warming up our hearts and laps for thousands of years. In older times, we spoiled our feline friends by building shrines for them, and, in some places, giving them their own servants. That’s a bit extravagant by today’s standards, of course, so you may want to try something more modest. Read on for some suggestions from a Fox Chapel, PA vet on how to spoil your cat.

Offer your furball lots of fun toys to play with. This will benefit your kitty both mentally and physically! Kitties all have their own preferences for playthings, so get Fluffy a variety, and see what she likes best.

Kitties can be very purrticular when it comes to food. Some of our feline pals are quite finicky, while others will eat pretty much anything they can get their paws on. Indulge Fluffy with the occasional healthy treat. (Tip: canned tuna in water will always be popular.)

If you have a screened-in porch or sunroom, a spare room, or even a sunny corner, you can turn it into a catio for your furry friend. Add some kitty furniture, and then set out some pet-safe plants for your furball to nibble on and hide behind. Check the ASPCA site here for a full list.

Cardboard boxes, for some reason, are one of Fluffy’s favorite things. Set out some empty ones for her to explore. Or, build your feline overlord a box castle.

Fluffy isn’t exactly shy about ‘borrowing’ our couches, chairs, and beds, but she’ll really enjoy having something she doesn’t have to share. Cat towers, pet tents, and kitty tunnels are all good options. Comfy beds are another purrfect choice.

Window Seats

Birdwatching is very popular with our feline companions. Buy or make Fluffy a comfy window seat, where she can relax and spy on local wildlife. To make this even more fun, put a birdfeeder up in your cat’s line of sight.

Kitty ‘Lawns’

Get some cat grass seeds, and plant them in a shallow storage tote. You can also use an old litterbox. In a few weeks, your feline buddy will have her own grass mat, where she can just relax and look superior.
